(KPL) Senior officials, and media practitioners of Laos and China took part in a virtual launching ceremony for the Lao-Chinese media interview campaign on the “Belt and Road" cooperation projects on Nov 18 in Vientiane.
The project aims to raise awareness and providing opportunities for Lao and Chinese media to disseminate to the people of the two countries information on the achievements and mutual benefits of the Laos-China cooperation projects under the "Belt and Road" initiative.
“Laos and China have continued to strengthen cooperation at regional and international arenas. The bilateral relations have brought more real benefits to the peoples of the two nations, as demonstrated in the incorporating of the Lao PDR's strategy of "turning a landlocked country into a land-linked country" in the "Belt and Road” Initiative,” said Mr Khamphanh Phommathat, Head of the Party Central Committee Propaganda and Training Board.
“Both sides have co-invested in several major projects such as the Laos-China Railway Project, the Vientiane-Vang Vieng Expressway Construction Project, the Xaysetha Development Zone and all aim to help alleviate poverty in Laos,” said Mr Khamphanh Phommathat.
“I believe that, through conducting interviews and reporting on the progress of bilateral cooperation in various fields in the Lao PDR, the Lao and Chinese media will help the peoples of the two countries better understand the objectives and the real outcomes of the Lao-Chinese cooperation,” added Mr Khamphanh.
"The Belt and Road interview campaign co conducted by the Lao and Chinese media will help enhance the relations between Laos and China and make peoples of the two countries realise the benefits of these cooperation projects," said Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee.
