(KPL) A consultation meeting to review and provide feedback on the Draft Strategy for the Development of the National Statistical System 2026–2035 and Vision to 2040 was held on September 8, 2026.

The meeting was chaired by Phetsamone Sone, Deputy Minister of Finance and supervisor of the Lao Statistics Bureau (LSB), with the participation of LSB deputy heads, department directors, division chiefs and technical staff.

Speaking at the meeting, Phetsamone Sone stressed that the National Statistical System plays a vital role in providing accurate, comprehensive and reliable statistical data to support national socio-economic development planning, as well as monitoring and evaluating implementation outcomes.

She emphasised the need for in-depth research and consultation to ensure that the draft strategy is scientifically sound, responsive to practical conditions and aligned with international standards.

The consultation focused on three key areas: reviewing the content of the draft strategy to ensure its comprehensiveness and accuracy; developing clear programmes and implementation directions; and establishing an appropriate budgetary framework to ensure the feasibility of planned activities and achievement of the strategy’s targets.

Phetsamone Sone called on participants to strengthen their sense of responsibility, engage actively in open discussions and provide constructive feedback to further improve the draft strategy and ensure its effective implementation
