The Ministry of Industry and Commerce has ordered authorities nationwide to immediately inspect markets and seize counterfeit toothpaste sold under the CLOSEUP brand.
Under Notice No. 3309/MOIC, dated September 2, 2026, commercial inspection officers in all provinces have been instructed to conduct market surveillance at retail outlets, wholesale markets and import checkpoints, and to seize and destroy counterfeit products found to be falsely bearing the CLOSEUP trademark.
The ministry urged consumers and businesses to exercise caution when purchasing toothpaste and check product packaging for spelling errors, missing batch numbers, poor printing quality and unusually low prices, which may indicate counterfeit products.
Consumers are also advised to stop using toothpaste suspected of being counterfeit or showing unusual changes in texture, colour or taste.
Authorities have called on consumers and business operators to report suspected counterfeit CLOSEUP products to relevant enforcement agencies.
Members of the public can report suspected violations by calling the 1510 hotline.
