(KPL) General Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President Thongloun Sisoulith received a delegation from the Lao Khaen Association during a courtesy visit on August 26, 2026.
The delegation was led by Dr. Chaleun Yiapaoher, former Member of the Party Central Committee, former Vice President of the National Assembly and Honorary President of the Lao Khaen Association, together with Mr. Khamphanh Mueansitthida, Member of the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Development and President of the association, and other committee members.
During the meeting, Dr. Chaleun briefed President Thongloun on the association’s activities and achievements in preserving, promoting and disseminating the traditional sounds of the Lao khaen.
He highlighted efforts to safeguard the khaen as an important form of Lao intangible cultural heritage and pass its knowledge and traditions on to future generations.
President Thongloun commended the association for its efforts to preserve the nation’s ancestral wisdom and cultural traditions, urging it to continue promoting and safeguarding the khaen so that this valuable heritage remains an enduring part of Lao national identity
