Authorities in Phongsaly Province have evaluated five locally produced products for certification under Laos' One District One Product (ODOP) program, part of ongoing efforts to strengthen product quality and expand market access.

The evaluation meeting, held at the Provincial Department of Industry and Commerce, on 15 July, was chaired by Yinsay Duangphachan, Director of the department, and attended by representatives of relevant government agencies, the Provincial Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and the provincial ODOP Product Selection Committee.
Officials assessed the products based on sustainability, the availability of raw materials, production standards, packaging and marketing potential. The evaluation aims to improve product quality, enhance competitiveness and expand access to both domestic and international markets.
During the meeting, participants also endorsed the appointment of the provincial ODOP Product Selection Committee and reviewed reports on the five candidate products.
The products include four tea brands from Phongsaly District: Natural Tea Processing Factory, Phou Doi Tea Processing Factory, MT Tea Processing Factory and Thalae Mork Tea Processing Factory. The fifth product is Vongkardok Anchan Lao Lao (Lao rice wine) from Mai District.
Producers presented the history, production processes and unique characteristics of each product as part of the evaluation.
The ODOP program promotes locally distinctive products to increase their market value, support rural livelihoods and strengthen local economic development.
