(KPL) The government has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing social shortcomings and other pressing socio-economic challenges to bring about positive transformation across the country.

At its regular monthly meeting for October 2025, held from 3–4 November, the government directed ministries, sectors, and local authorities to continue prioritising key national issues. These include managing the cost of living, stabilising the prices of essential goods, electricity, and fuel, strengthening mining management, restricting the import of luxury goods, improving road infrastructure, and combating the spread of fake or distorted information on social media.

Authorities were also urged to continue implementing measures to address economic and financial difficulties, particularly in managing exchange rates, resolving public debt, and promoting the production of import-substitution goods as part of efforts to build an independent and self-reliant economy.

The government further instructed relevant sectors to ensure strict enforcement of regulations governing mining projects, especially those assessed as weak, and to promote the processing of extracted minerals into finished products to reduce the export of raw materials.

In the labour and education sectors, the meeting called for urgent measures to resolve issues related to volunteer teachers and doctors in line with the approved civil service quota. The government also emphasised the importance of developing the quality of the Lao workforce and monitoring labour operations in special economic zones, industrial zones, and estates to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.

Regarding infrastructure development, the meeting reviewed the implementation of Resolution No. 165/NA on promoting road construction and maintenance. It urged continued development and repair of national and local roads according to plan and instructed the issuance of clear guidelines on models and toll collection systems for roads maintained by private contractors to ensure consistency nationwide.

In the area of national defence and security, the government emphasised the need to strengthen political foundations and rural development, particularly in strategic and remote areas, as part of efforts to alleviate poverty under the “Three Builds” policy. Authorities were also directed to ensure public safety and security during major upcoming national events, including the 50th National Day celebrations and the 12th National Games, to guarantee a peaceful and secure environment.
