(KPL) Over 50 foreign journalists attended a seminar on China’s development strategies, with a focus on policies for ethnic minority regions.

Held on April 14 in Beijing, China, the event was part of the 2025 media exchange programme organized by China’s International Press Communication Centre (CIPCC).

Ethnic Development Policies Explained

Professor Keyong He, an expert in international studies at Minzu University of China, outlined China’s governance framework, emphasizing inclusive policies for ethnic minority areas.

He highlighted key measures, including: legal safeguards for ethnic rights and cultural preservation, national unity and equality among all ethnic groups, economic development programmes in minority regions, cultural promotion and educational advancement, and infrastructure integration linking rural ethnic areas with urban centers.

Infrastructure as a Catalyst for Growth

Prof. He noted that the Chinese government prioritizes the development of infrastructure, particularly reads, highways, and high-speed rail networks, to connect cities and provinces. Special policies ensure universal education access for ethnic communities.

China’s Ethnic Diversity

China is home to 56 ethnic groups, with the Han majority comprising 91.46% (1.4 billion people). The seminar drew journalists from Asia-Pacific, Africa, Europe, and Latin America, fostering cross-cultural dialogue on development models.
