(KPL/Prensa Latina) Uganda is the scene today of the first trial of an unprecedented vaccine against the Sudan strain of Ebola, whose success will mean the salvation of hundreds if not thousands of lives, especially in Africa.

The trial, which also marks a historic milestone in this type of emergency experiment, is being conducted by the World Health Organization (WHO) in conjunction with “several partners”, according to a communiqué issued by the Health Ministry of this African country.

Health workers and people exposed to the Ebola strain will be prioritized in the inoculation of the drug, which begins just four days after the death of a nurse at a hospital in the capital due to the disease and the detection of two other cases among relatives of the deceased.

The early start of the experiment was the result of advanced research in conjunction with respect for international ethical and regulatory standards, the Ugandan ministry statement said.
