The Lao Minister of Public Security, Lt. Gen. Vanthong Kongmany, met the Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister, Muhammad Anis Matta, in Vientiane on Monday to discuss a deepening partnership in regional security.

The Lao Minister of Public Security, Lt. Gen. Vanthong Kongmany, met the Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister, Muhammad Anis Matta, in Vientiane on Monday to discuss a deepening partnership in regional security.
Mr Matta is currently on an official working visit to the Lao PDR alongside a senior delegation. During the meeting, Lt. Gen. Kongmany welcomed the visit, noting its importance in strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
Strengthening security cooperation
The discussions focused on a strategic partnership between the Ministry of Public Security of Laos and the Indonesian National Police. Both sides pledged to enhance cooperation in several key areas of transnational crime, including drug trafficking, counter-terrorism, smuggling, human trafficking, cybercrime and money laundering.
Long-standing ties
In response, Mr Matta thanked the Minister for the hospitality shown to him and his delegation. He praised the long-standing cooperation between Indonesia and Laos and outlined the specific objectives of his current mission, which aims to bolster regional stability and law enforcement ties.
