(KPL) A campaign rally for candidates contesting seats in the 10th National Assembly (NA) from Constituency 1 of Vientiane Capital was held on February 6, 2026, at the National Assembly Hall.
The event was attended by Mr. Xaysomphone Phomvihane, Politburo Member and President of the National Assembly; Mr. Athsaphangthong Siphandone, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Vientiane Capital Party Committee, and Chairman of the Vientiane Capital Electoral Commission, along with candidates for the 10th National Assembly from Constituency 1 and eligible voters from ministries, organizations, and departments based in Vientiane Capital.
The introductory meeting featured a total of 25 candidates, including 7 women. The presentation and meeting with voters were organized in accordance with Article 18 of the amended 2024 Law on the Election of Members of the National Assembly and Members of Provincial People’s Councils.
The event aimed to ensure that the election process is conducted efficiently, effectively, and in strict compliance with the law. It provided voters with accurate and comprehensive information about each candidate, enabling them to gain a clear understanding of the candidates’ backgrounds, qualifications, and commitments.
The meeting also served as a platform for candidates and voters to meet and exchange views ahead of the election, allowing voters to study, consider, and compare candidates based on established criteria before making informed decisions on who they believe is best qualified to represent them in exercising the people’s authority within the National Assembly.
The election of members of the 10th National Assembly is scheduled to take place on February 22, 2026.
