(KPL) The 3rd Ordinary Session of the 9th National Assembly was opened today, Jun 13 under the chairmanship of NA’s president Xaysomphone Phomvihane.
The opening ceremony for the three-week meeting witnessed the presence of Party Secretary General and President Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh, other government leaders and members of the National Assembly.
The meeting will discuss and make a decision on issues of national importance including Prime Minister's report on the implementation of the National Socio-economic Development Plan, State Budget Plan, Monetary Plan over the past six months and targets for the second half the year along with the government’s report on the implementation of the Foreign Currency Plan in the first 6 months of 2022, and priorities for the second half of 2022.
NA’s ordinary meeting will also consider the government’s report on the implementation of two national agendas namely the National Agenda on Addressing Economic and Financial Difficulties, and the National Agenda on Addressing Drug Issues.
The government’s evaluation of the implementation of four laws: Law on Land, Law on Investment Promotion, Law on State Property and Law on Minerals will be also reported at the meeting along with the government’s report on the reform of state-owned enterprises, including commercial banks.
The government is expected to use the meeting to brief members of the National Assembly about the implementation of Green Travel Plan and the reopening of the country, the improvement of the quality of teaching and learning at all educational levels.
Lawmakers are also expected to discuss the adoption of new laws including laws on Fine Arts, Home Security, Weapon and Explosive Management, State Property, Foreign Exchange Management, and Promotion of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, and consider amendments to the People's Court Law, Law on Grievance Redress and Law on Water and Water Resources.
