KPL (KPL) The Lao PDR has received 1.5 million more doses of COVID-19 vaccine from the People’s Republic of China.

(KPL) The Lao PDR has received 1.5 million more doses of COVID-19 vaccine from the People’s Republic of China.

The handover ceremony for the vaccines was held on Jan 25 at Wattay International Airport in Vientiane between Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh and Chinese Ambassador to Laos Jiang Zaidong

Since the beginning of COVID-19 outbreak in Laos, China has provided 8.9 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to Laos making China the largest provider of vaccines and medical equipment for Covid-19 fight in the Lao PDR.

At the event, Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh expressed sincere thanks to the fraternal Party, government and people of China for their provision of 1.5 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine and syringes to the Lao PDR.

China played an important role in helping Laos achieve its Covid-19 vaccination target of 50% of population in 2021. Yet the Lao government has an ambitious plan to have 80 per cent of its population vaccinated against Covid-19 by the end of 2022.
