First Private Environmental Analytical Firm Launched

KPL (KPL) Phanthamit Analytical Lab Co., Ltd, the first private environmental analytical lab company in Laos, was launched on Thursday, Mar 29, in the presence of Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Phouangparisack Pravongviengkham, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Houmphanh Intharath, Charge d’affaires from the Embassy of Luxembourg to the Lao PDR Claude Jentgen, and representatives of relevant authorities.

(KPL) Phanthamit Analytical Lab Co., Ltd, the first private environmental analytical lab company in Laos, was launched on Thursday, Mar 29, in the presence of Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Phouangparisack Pravongviengkham, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Houmphanh Intharath, Charge d’affaires from the Embassy of Luxembourg to the Lao PDR Claude Jentgen, and representatives of relevant authorities. 

Phanthamit Analytical Lab Co., Ltd was founded in late 2015 by Mr Khuanchay Siphakanlaya and Innogreen Engineering Co., Ltd. Greener Consultant Co., Ltd and Easter Thai Consulting 1992 Co., Ltd also joined the venture as its shareholders.

“We realized the importance and demand for laboratory services which are increasing in apparel with the development and the growth of business sector in various areas namely water quality and environmental analysis, analysis for development projects namely dams, mining and basic infrastructure development projects as well as food and non food industry and agricultural processing industry,” said Managing Director of Phanthamit Analytical Lab Co., Ltd, Vongsack Mixay.  

Following inception in late 2015, Phanthamit Analytical Lab Co., Ltd began to build its laboratory to provide environmental laboratory service including water quality analysis. Besides to the development of the laboratory, the company has applied laboratory operation innovation that meets international standard ISO/IEC 17025, an internationally recognized laboratory benchmark.

The company spent almost two years on its preparation and application for ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation for its laboratory. The accreditation was approved for the company in December 2017 making Phanthamit Analytical Lab the first private lab to have been awarded such an accreditation ISO/IEC 17025 in the Lao PDR.

On the same occasion, Ms Dusadee Munkwamdee of Bureau of Laboratory Accreditation of the Department of Science Service of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Thailand presented the certificate ISO/IEC 17025 to Managing Director of Phanthamit Analytical Lab Mr Vongsack Mixay.

Today, the lab can provide water quality testing services for clean, waste water and surface water and air and soil quality analysis, vibration and noise measurement services.

The company also plans to strengthen its capacity to be able to provide quality analysis for food, agricultural products and lab equipment testing services as the company has signed an MoU with AMARC of Thailand.

The company is currently in process of preparation and studying whether it is possible to provide product standardization services for exporters, entrepreneurs and SMEs and ODOP entrepreneurs.

“I strongly believe that being international standard lab that meets ISO standard, Phanthamit will help create trust for investors, both domestic and foreign, for their business operation and development in the Lao PDR,” said Mr Vongsack.
