KPL (KPL) Sekong province expects to attract tourists as high as 50,000 this year, Vice Governor, Mr Leklai Sivilay has said.

(KPL) Sekong province expects to attract tourists as high as 50,000 this year, Vice Governor, Mr Leklai Sivilay has said.

To achieve the provincial goal and support a large sum of tourist migration, Sekong province will focus on better providing services to tourists and well managed for restaurants and hotels to welcome the Visit Laos Year 2018.

The tourism industry is a priority sector driving the growth of socio-economic development alongside with promotion of the green tourism.

Sekong province has determined tourist sites for welcome tourists such as historical, archeological, natural, agricultural and handicraft product sites or where exited tourist potential development for attract tourists, Leklai explained.

Currently, there are 37 tourism sites, nine of which are history, six cultural sites, 19 eco-tourists sites and three agricultural farms.

The most outstanding tourist sites include Tad Feak, Houakhon and Hea waterfalls.

          The popular tourist destination sites are farming production at the KM 20, Sinouk coffee farm, which is one popular destination in the worldwide and the bamboo plantation in Dakchaung district. Local people are being promoted to grow ginseng.

Sekong is also a tourist ring in the southernmost provinces, which seems as a tourist destination via Champasak province.

 

In 2012, Sekong attracted the tourism come to visit the province more than 22,000 tourists and in 2017, 38,000 tourists visited and can get income more than US$7 million.
