Laos, Vietnam Special Cooperation Plays Greatest Role to the Development of Businesses

(KPL) Longstanding bilateral cooperation in the recent years between Laos and Vietnam is playing the greatest role in the development of businesses in the two countries, the Director General of Lao-Viet Bank, Mr Nguyan Van Bing said.

Laos and Vietnam are preparing to celebrate the annual anniversary of special solidarity between the two countries-the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the 40th anniversary of signing the friendship and cooperation treaty.

Currently, therelationship and cooperation between Laos and Vietnam have been pushed and political cooperation has also grown and been tightened. Economic relations and cooperation between the two countries have also been widely opened in recent years as the result of the formation of strong grassroots for special relations.

Vietnamese business people have invested in over 412 projects in Laos with a total registered capital of US$5.1 billion.Vietnam is the second ranking investor in Laos.


The Laos-Vietnam Joint Venture Bank (Lao-Viet Bank) was established on June 22, 1999, based on the result of the comprehensive solidarity and friendship between the two peoples — in particular, the foundation of a sound economic trading relationship between the two countries.



The shareholders of  Lao-Viet Bank include the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) and Banque Pour Le Commerce Exterieur Lao Public (BCEL).

In the course of its operations in Laos, Lao-Viet Bank has become a leader in providing banking solutions and finance for the entities who have trade relations and Vietnam-Laos and Laos-Vietnam investment.

Lao-Viet Bank has become a powerful economic institution: a multinational business contributing significantly to the economic development of the countries of Vietnam and Laos.

Currently, there are 8 branches in 8 provinces of Laos and they have always contributed and supported the basic economics of the country, created jobs for Lao people and made income for Lao people.

Over the last period, Lao-Viet Bank has helped society by supporting the public health sector, education, and helping poor people.

Lao-Viet Bank’s operation areas have spread over Laos, with its headquarters located in Vientiane and 5 branches and 9 transaction offices covering 8 key economic provinces out of the eighteen provinces in Laos.

Director General of Lao-Viet Bank Nguyan Van Bing, on behalf of the bank, praised the current celebration of the two historical days for Laos and Vietnam; the relationship between the two Parties and states is meaningful and most important for political relations and economicties between the two countries.

Mr Nguyan, representing all bank staff, wished the relationship between Laos and Vietnam to be bright and strong forever.

      The Xeuchin Wind Power Projects 1 and 2 in Bolikhamxay Province, are rapidly approaching completion, with over 80% of construction already finished. The projects are on schedule to begin generating electricity by the end of 2025. According to Project Director Mr. Ruang Jungang, both Phase 1 (250 megawatts) and Phase 2 (350 megawatts) are set to commence commercial operations by the end of this year.
