Huaphan Authorises Local Firm to Develop a Tourism Complex at Kone Waterfall

(KPL) The authorities of Huaphan Province, one of the favourite destinations for visitors, have signed an agreement with a private company for the development of a tourism complex at the Kone Waterfall, Meuang Kao, Xone district, Huaphan Province.

The agreement was signed on Mar 1 at the Huaphan Provincial Department of Planning and Investment by representatives of the provincial authorities and the private company in the presence of Huaphan Vice Governor Mr. Phanthong Phetxaysomphanh and relevant officials.

Under the contract, the company will operate the development project for 30 years once it is fully constructed at a cost of 3.5 billion kip (over US$430,000).

The construction will be conducted in two phases with the first one falling between 2017 and 2018.  It will include the construction of an access road and wooden ladder up to Kone waterfall a view spot, guesthouses, a restaurant, a parking lot, and the installation of electricity.

The second phase will take place in 2019-2020 and will involve building a resort, a convention room, souvenir shops, and a high-class restaurant to attract high-end domestic and foreign visitors.

The provincial authorities have an ambitious plan to upgrade Xone district so that it is able to attract more visitors by building basic infrastructure including roads, electricity and water supply facilities, hotels, an international convention centre, a shooting range, a nursing home for the elderly, a school, and a hospital as well as other related facilities.
