Lao National Assembly President Pays Courtesy Call on Thai King and Queen

(KPL)  Xaysomphone Phomvihane, President of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR, and his spouse paid a courtesy call on Their Majesties Maha Vajiralongkorn and Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana on March 17, 2026, in Vientiane.

The audience, held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, took place during Their Majesties’ State Visit to the Lao PDR from March 16–18, marking a significant moment in the continued strengthening of bilateral relations.

President Xaysomphone expressed his honor in welcoming the Thai Royal Family, noting that the Lao people across all ethnic groups were delighted and had eagerly anticipated the visit. Both sides reaffirmed the longstanding friendship and close cooperation between Laos and Thailand, underscored by regular high-level exchanges and growing collaboration across multiple sectors.

The President also conveyed appreciation for the Thai Royal Family’s development initiatives, which have contributed meaningfully to socio-economic progress in Laos and improved the livelihoods of its people.

During the meeting, he briefed His Majesty on recent political developments, including the successful elections for the 10th National Assembly and the 5th Provincial People’s Councils, as well as preparations for the inaugural session of the new legislature scheduled for the following week.

His Majesty the King expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by the Lao government and people, and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening ties between the two nations. He also extended his best wishes for continued cooperation between the legislative bodies of Laos and Thailand for the mutual benefit of both countries.
