KPL The National Election Committee (NEC) convened a high-level review meeting on 17 March 2026 to evaluate the outcomes and lessons learned from the recent elections for the 10th National Assembly and the 5th Provincial People’s Councils.

The session, held at the International Cooperation and Training Centre (ICTC), was chaired by Mr Xaysomphone Phomvihane, President of the National Assembly, and Chairman of the NEC.
The meeting focused on a comprehensive evaluation of reports from across the country. Representatives from eight key provinces—Vientiane, Phongsaly, Xayaboury, Houaphan, Savannakhet, Champasak, Sekong, and Xaysomboun—provided detailed feedback on the electoral process.
In his keynote address, Mr Xaysomphone Phomvihane highly commended the successful execution of the elections, describing them as a "pivotal milestone in the nation’s political life." He noted that the process has significantly bolstered the stability and strength of the Lao PDR state administration.
The President highlighted that the elections were conducted in an enthusiastic atmosphere, remained peaceful, and strictly adhered to the rule of law. The official results were formally announced on 2 March 2026.
"We must demonstrate a high degree of responsibility in analysing our successes and identifying areas for improvement," Mr Xaysomphone stated. "These insights will serve as invaluable lessons to ensure even greater efficiency in future electoral cycles."
Preparations for the Inaugural Session
Beyond reviewing past performance, the gathering served as a final readiness check ahead of the Inaugural Session of the 10th National Assembly. This landmark legislative meeting is scheduled to take place from 23 to 27 March 2026, where the newly elected members will officially take their seats.
