Candidate for National Assembly Member in Constituency 6, Luang Prabang Province, Begins Election Campaign

KPL Candidates contesting seats in the 10th Legislature of the National Assembly (NA) from Constituency 6 of Luang Prabang Province officially launched their election campaign on February 6, 2026, at Souphanouvong University, marking the start of voter outreach activities ahead of the national elections.

The event was welcomed by Brigadier General Sivivay Pengsantisouk, Head of the Political Division of the Luang Prabang Provincial Military Command, together with officials and personnel from the national defense and public security forces.
On this occasion, Mr. Bounleuan Manivong, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Administrative Office of the Luang Prabang Provincial Party Committee, candidate number 2, addressed participants, stating that the election of members of the 10th National Assembly and the 5th Legislature of the Provincial People’s Council is an important implementation of the Party’s policies and guidelines, particularly the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress.
He noted that the election reflects the spirit of strengthening the Party’s leadership role, striving to build an independent and self-reliant economy, continuing to consolidate the democratic system, and advancing towards socialism. It also implements the Resolution of the 9th Luang Prabang Provincial Party Representative Conference, which focuses on enhancing leadership capacity, promoting the province’s potential as a World Heritage Town, and advancing development towards self-reliance, green sustainability, and value preservation.
Mr. Bounleuan emphasized that the election is a major national political event of great significance, contributing to the strengthening of the state power system to meet the requirements of political tasks in the new era and to ensure that the state truly serves the people, by the people, and for the people.
He added that the election provides an important opportunity for cadres, soldiers, police officers, and people of all ethnic groups to exercise their democratic rights as stipulated in the Constitution, including the right to vote and stand for election, which is held once every five years. It also serves to further strengthen the Party’s leadership over the activities of representative bodies of the people’s power and the interests of the multi-ethnic Lao people.
At the event, each candidate introduced themselves and briefly presented their background and activities to participants. In Constituency 6 of Luang Prabang Province, there are a total of 14 candidates, including 5 women, contesting seats in the 10th Legislature of the National Assembly. Of these, 10 candidates will be elected to represent the multi-ethnic people of Luang Prabang Province in the National Assembly.
