Ten journalists and content creators were recognised at the Annual Green Media Product Competition 2025 Awards for exceptional reporting on environmental protection and sustainable development.

The ceremony, held under the GAMCIL Project, was organised by the Lao Journalists’ Association (LJA) and CARE International in the Lao PDR, with funding from the European Union (EU). This year’s theme focused on Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation, with a special emphasis on Gender Equality, highlighting powerful stories that inspire a greener and more inclusive future.
Nearly 200 submissions from 18 provinces showcased outstanding work across television, radio, print, and digital platforms. The initiative aims to strengthen media and communication capacity over the next two years, particularly in Vientiane, Luang Prabang and Champasak.

Key attendees included Mr. Somsavath Phongsar, Director of the Department of Mass Media; Savankhone Razamuntry, President of the Lao Journalists’ Association; Keo-Amphone Souvanaphoum, CARE Country Director; and EU Ambassador Marc Galagher. More than 80 participants from government media, civil society and digital platforms took part in the event.
Organisers noted that the awards play a vital role in promoting high-quality environmental reporting, advancing gender equality within the media sector, and strengthening public understanding of green development.
