(KPL/Prensa Latina) Venezuelan Tourism Ministry is giving the final touches for the beginning of the First World Birdwatching Congress in the state of Merida.
This four-day event will bring together national and international experts, observers, tour operators, and conservationists, and will feature a broad program of activities including keynote speeches, workshops, field trips, negotiation meetings, and photo exhibitions.
The Ministry informed that observation routes, conservation strategies, and sustainable tourism development models based on birdwatching will be presented during the Congress.
The event will coincide on Saturday with October Big Day, which will take place simultaneously in the country’s 24 states. It aims to connect with nature and celebrate the national birds’ richness.
Tourism Minister Leticia Gomez, along with representatives from the public and private sectors, highlighted the importance of birdwatching across the nation as a tourism and ecological tool that places the Bolivarian Republic among the top five for birdwatching, the source stated.
Birdwatching also contributes to promoting a sustainable economy in accordance with the Seven Transformations Government Plan, outlined by President Nicolas Maduro and discussed in grassroots assemblies with millions of people.
