Lao Culture Week held in Vietnam

KPL The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Lao PDR, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, jointly organized Lao Culture Week in Hanoi, Vietnam. The event was attended by Ms. Dalany Phommavongsa, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Laos; Mr. Ho An Phong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam; Lao performing artists; and other officials from both sides.

(KPL) The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Lao PDR, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, jointly organized Lao Culture Week in Hanoi, Vietnam. The event was attended by Ms. Dalany Phommavongsa, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Laos; Mr. Ho An Phong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam; Lao performing artists; and other officials from both sides.

The event was held under the framework of the Lao-Vietnamese Arts, Culture, and Tourism Cooperation Plan for 2021–2025, aiming to strengthen cultural exchange and deepen mutual understanding between the two countries.

During the celebration, the Lao performing arts troupe presented a variety of traditional performances, including classical and folk dances, Lam singing (Lao folk music), and Khaen performances (Lao mouth organ), which is recognized as part of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. These performances highlighted the beauty and diversity of Lao ethnic cultures, showcased the country’s rich artistic traditions, and celebrated the strong and enduring friendship between Laos and Vietnam.

At the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister Dalany Phommavongsa emphasized that the event contributes to promoting the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States, and the peoples of Laos and Vietnam. She added that Lao Culture Week also marks the joint celebration of several important anniversaries, including the 50th Anniversary of the Founding of the Lao PDR, the 105th Birth Anniversary of President Kaysone Phomvihane, the 80th Anniversary of the Founding of Vietnam, and the 135th Birth Anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh.

In his remarks, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong praised the successful organization of the Lao Culture Week in Vietnam and expressed his hope that the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two nations would continue to grow stronger and more sustainable in the years ahead.

The event drew a large audience, including Ms. Khamphao Ernthavanh, Ambassador of the Lao PDR to Vietnam, government officials from both countries, members of the diplomatic corps, Lao students studying in Vietnam, and many Vietnamese citizens.

Following the performances in Hanoi, the Lao performing arts troupe is scheduled to continue their tour with additional performances in Thanh Hóa Province.
