The first Laos-China Electric Power Technology Forum was held on Thursday at the Naxaythong Substation in Vientiane, with the goal of deepening bilateral cooperation in the electricity sector and advancing Laos’ strategic energy transformation.

Held under the theme "Sharing Technology, Cultivating Talent, and Benefiting the People," the forum leveraged China’s extensive experience in power infrastructure to promote the adoption of advanced technologies and international standards, including ultra-high voltage transmission and smart distribution networks.
As part of its focus on talent development, the forum launched standardized training courses covering grid planning, dispatching, and operation and maintenance. It also expanded programs to train Lao technical specialists, aiming to build local expertise for long-term energy development.

To enhance public benefit, discussions centered on improving the reliability of power supply in Vientiane and along the China-Laos Railway. Efforts to reduce distribution network losses and explore joint emergency response mechanisms were also highlighted, further strengthening China-Laos cooperation through shared public welfare initiatives.
According to Electricite du Laos Transmission Company Limited, the partnership with China Southern Power Grid has led to significant improvements in the country’s main power grid, thanks to the application of Chinese expertise and technology.

The forum brought together senior officials from the Lao government, members of the business community, and experts from Chinese power research institutes and technical service providers. Chinese delegates showcased cutting-edge technologies in areas such as intelligent inspection, online monitoring, and satellite communications, offering strong technical and service support for advancing regional energy integration.
