(KPL) The Laos-China Railway has announced the temporary suspension of all passenger train services on Tuesday, July 23, 2025, citing severe weather conditions posed by Typhoon Wipha. The decision has been made to prioritize public safety and prevent potential disruptions and accidents along the railway line.

According to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, Typhoon Wipha is forecasted to be one of the most powerful storms to hit the region in recent years. The storm is expected to bring heavy rainfall, strong winds, and significantly elevated risks of geological hazards such as landslides, mudslides, and rockfalls along the entire railway route.

These conditions could severely impact the integrity of the railway infrastructure and pose serious safety threats to operations and passengers.

Following comprehensive risk assessments based on meteorological data and scientific analysis, railway authorities have opted for a full-day suspension to ensure the safety of both passengers and personnel.

Passengers affected by the suspension are eligible to cancel or reschedule their trips free of charge. Tickets can be refunded in full or exchanged via the LCR Ticket online app or at any official ticket counter. In cases where passengers are unable to process cancellations in time, full refunds will remain available for up to 30 days from the original travel date.

The Lao-China Railway encourages all passengers to monitor weather updates and official announcements, and to make travel adjustments accordingly. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
