(KPL) On June 24, 2025, the Government of the Lao PDR held its regular monthly meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister.

The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, Deputy Prime Ministers, government members, and representatives from various ministries attended the session, the meeting is scheduled to last one and a half days.

During the meeting, participants discussed several important national issues and plans, the key agenda items included: A summary of work completed in June and the Government’s direction for July.

A progress report on the implementation of the 19th Party Congress Resolution during the first half of 2025, plans for the second half of the year, updates on national defense, public security, and foreign affairs.

Preparation and response plans for natural disasters, especially floods, issues related to seeds, rainy season agriculture, road repairs, irrigation, and water reservoir management, a draft decree on managing the fuel oil business.

A draft of the 10-year Socio-Economic Development Strategy (2026–2035) and national vision toward 2045, draft decrees on creating a national citizen database and issuing national identification cards.

At the start of the meeting, Prime Minister Sonexay spoke about the current regional and global situation.

He noted that international tensions are rising, especially due to military and political conflicts in some areas, these challenges may damage people’s lives and property in many countries.

They are also likely to make the global economic situation worse rising prices of goods and fuel are possible outcomes.

The Prime Minister stressed that Laos cannot avoid the effects of these global issues, both direct and indirect impacts are expected.

He also mentioned that within Laos, heavy rain has already caused flooding in several provinces, these floods have resulted in property damage and loss of life, he called for immediate and coordinated efforts to deal with these problems.

He said early action is needed to prevent greater harm to the livelihoods of citizens, civil servants, and national development.

Finally, the Prime Minister urged all government members to study each issue carefully, he asked them to give focused, honest, and practical feedback.

He said clear and concise discussions will help the meeting reach its goals and deliver effective results.
