(KPL) As June 1, 2025, marks the return of International Children’s Day a day celebrated globally as a festival of joy and significance for children we join the international community in honoring and uplifting the rights, well-being, and future of our youngest citizens. Across the world, countries commemorate this day with vibrant and meaningful activities, all aimed at fostering environments where children can thrive.
In the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, June 1 also holds special significance as National Tree Planting Day, a tradition upheld since 1980. This dual celebration reflects our Party and State’s unwavering commitment to sustainable development, environmental protection, and the long-term future of the nation — our children. It is also an opportunity to instill in our younger generation a deep sense of responsibility for nature and society.
On behalf of the leadership of the Party and State, and in my personal capacity, I extend my warmest and most heartfelt wishes to all children, youth, and young people of every ethnic group, both within and beyond our borders. May you enjoy happiness, good health, progress, and fulfillment in all aspects of life. May you grow strong — physically, intellectually, and emotionally and become citizens of integrity, knowledge, creativity, discipline, and responsibility.
I encourage you to be bold in thought and constructive in action. Cultivate a love of learning, a sense of self-worth, and a commitment to personal growth. Stay curious, adaptable, and resilient as you face the challenges and opportunities of a fast-changing world. Your potential is vast, and your future can be bright and sustainable.
Let us all come together to celebrate International Children’s Day 2025 under the theme:
“Building Strength for Every Child: Equal Rights, Safe Future.”
This day traces its roots back to the World Conference on the Well-being of Children held in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1925, where the importance of safeguarding children’s rights and welfare was first globally recognized. Officially established in 1950, International Children’s Day has since become a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility to support children’s participation, development, and empowerment.
It is also a time for children to showcase their talents, express their voices, and shine. For families, communities, and society at large, it is a moment to reflect on the critical role of understanding children’s needs and aspirations and to act on the issues that affect their lives.
Let us reaffirm our shared commitment to nurturing, protecting, and investing in our children. For in doing so, we secure not only their future, but the future of our nation.
