(KPL/Prensa Latina) Greater Caribbean Summit began in the Colombian province of Cartagena with a workshop to identify opportunities within South-South.
The meeting will bring together heads of state and government, regional leaders, international organizations, the private sector, and the civil society under the theme “United for Life: Towards a More Sustainable Greater Caribbean,” aiming to reniew the commitment to peoples-centered integration.
Following the workshop, which will take place today, the 9th International Cooperation Conference will be held on Tuesday, as well as a business forum to promote trade and sustainable development, supported by digital tools such as e-commerce, paperless exchange systems, and Artificial Intelligence.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes the event will mark a milestone for the region by promoting a more resilient, supportive, and future-oriented integration.
According to the agenda released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Third Colombia-Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Ministerial Summit will be held on Wednesday the 28th. Its purpose is to deepen regional integration, especially on climate issues and cooperation between Colombia and the countries of the region.
Then, on Thursday the 29th, the 30th Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) will also take place in Cartagena. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this meeting represents an opportunity to reach transformative agreements, strengthen cooperation, and consolidate the Greater Caribbean as an integrated, sustainable region with its own voice on the global stage.
Finally, the Summit of Heads of State or Governments, and territories of the ACS will be held on Friday the 30th. This summit will adopt a joint political declaration on the challenges and opportunities facing the Caribbean in the current global context.
