(KPL) The Beijing High-Level Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone Innovation and Operation Centre welcomed foreign journalists for an exclusive tour of its facilities, showcasing cutting-edge autonomous vehicle (AV) technology and its cloud-controlled networked platform—the world’s first of its kind.

Established in August 2020 by the Beijing Municipal Government, the centre operates under Beijing Connected and Autonomous Vehicles Technology Co., Ltd. It is tasked with planning, constructing, and managing the city’s high-level autonomous driving demonstration zone, serving as a hub for policy testing, industrial collaboration, and technological breakthroughs.

During the visit, journalists learned about the center’s milestones, including development of policy frameworks and digital maps for the Intelligent Connected Vehicle (ICV) Pilot Zone, integration of vehicle-road-cloud systems to advance real-world AV applications, efforts to drive industrial chain innovation and create new business models.

"We are bridging theory and practice to position Beijing as a leader in autonomous mobility," a centre representative explained.

Hands-On Experience

Following a presentation on operational procedures, media attendees were invited to observe and ride in AVs equipped with the latest self-driving technology, witnessing firsthand the zone’s progress in safety and efficiency.

Future Vision

The center aims to become a globally influential enterprise in smart transportation, fostering sustainable urban mobility through continued technological and policy innovation.
