ASEAN Journalists Enrich Digital Skills in Turkiye

KPL The Turkish Radio and Television (TRT) Academy, in collaboration with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), and ASEAN Secretariat organized a Social Media and Digital Journalism training in Ankara, Turkiye from April 14-18, 2025.

(KPL)The Turkish Radio and Television (TRT) Academy, in collaboration with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), and ASEAN Secretariat organized a Social Media and Digital Journalism training in Ankara, Turkiye from April 14-18, 2025.

This marks the first initiative under the ASEAN-Turkiye partnership aimed at enhancing capacity building for media professionals from ASEAN member states and Timor-Leste.

The training, conducted by renowned Turkish media specialists, focused on social media and digital journalism, mobile journalism (MoJo), digital media analysis, content editing and marketing, hands-on practical sessions.

Participants gained valuable insights into modern media practices, equipping them with tools to improve information dissemination and digital storytelling in their respective countries.

A representative from the ASEAN Secretariat, expressed enthusiasm about the programme, “I learned a lot from the training and exchanged ideas with fellow journalists. It’s clear that everyone found it beneficial. From the ASEAN Secretariat’s perspective, we hope this initiative continues in the future.”

Kate Australia, one of ten journalists from ASEAN, highlighted the training’s timeliness, especially with the upcoming elections in the Philippines.

“The lessons are incredibly valuable, particularly for social media management. With elections approaching, accurate and efficient information dissemination is crucial. I will definitely apply what I’ve learned and share this knowledge with my colleagues.”
