(KPL) A group of Lao students preparing to further their education in Japan under the Government of Japan's MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology) scholarship program received a heartfelt farewell during a send-off reception at the residence of the Ambassador of Japan to Laos on March 20, 2025.
The event was attended by Mr Phout Simmalavong, the Minister of Education and Sports and President of the Lao-Japan Friendship Association, along with officials from various organizations and Lao returnees who previously studied in Japan.

This year, 12 students from the Lao PDR were awarded MEXT scholarships to pursue graduate studies and attend technical and specialized training colleges in Japan. The recipients are expected to gain invaluable experience, knowledge, and skills, which they will bring back to contribute to national and regional development.
Mr. Koizumi Tsutomu, Ambassador of Japan to the Lao PDR, encouraged the students to engage with the Japanese people and share the beauty and culture of the Lao PDR during their time in Japan.

Ms. Meenou Phakdy, representing the MEXT scholarship recipients, expressed her gratitude to the Government of Japan for the generous opportunity. She pledged to work hard in her postgraduate studies and make the most of her time in Japan.
The reception also featured two returnees who shared their enriching experiences and offered words of encouragement to the outgoing scholars, advising them to take full advantage of the academic and cultural opportunities ahead.
The warm and supportive atmosphere at the reception left the scholarship recipients excited and optimistic as they prepared for the next chapter of their educational journey in Japan.
