(KPL) Laos has been ranked seventh in ASEAN for workers in the Republic of Korea, with 2,969 Lao nationals employed. Vietnam leads with 55,795 workers.

Under a Service Commitment Agreement, the Republic of Korea hires workers via a points-based system across various sectors, including industries and SMEs, according to Laos’ Employment Service Centre. Applicants, aged 25-45 and in good health, can apply through Private Employment Service Companies.

Pengpiu Thitlimkhuan, Deputy Director of Vientiane province’s Labour Department, encouraged those interested in agricultural work to register. He noted no specific skills or language tests are required, though good health is essential.

In Meun district, 307 individuals have registered for seasonal farm work, with contracts lasting five months to a year. Monthly wages range from USD 1,600 to USD 2,000, including social benefits.
