India Supports Clean Water Supply Facility in Xieng Khuang

KPL On 28 October 2024, Ambassador of India Mr. Prashant Agrawal along with Mr. Sivilay Sengchaleun, Vice Governor of Xieng Khuang Province handed over a Quick Impact Project (QIP) of clean water supply facility in Phousan Village, Pek District, Xieng Khuang Province. The project will provide clean water to about 185 families in remote village of Hmong ethnic group.

(KPL) On 28 October 2024, Ambassador of India Mr. Prashant Agrawal along with Mr. Sivilay Sengchaleun, Vice Governor of Xieng Khuang Province handed over a Quick Impact Project (QIP) of clean water supply facility in Phousan Village, Pek District, Xieng Khuang Province.

The project will provide clean water to about 185 families in remote village of Hmong ethnic group.

The project was undertaken under grant assistance from the Government of India under the QIP Scheme of Mekong-Ganga Cooperation (MGC), which has been delivering development to communities at grassroots level in the areas of health, education, drinking water facility, agriculture, and IT, etc. in remote far-flung areas across many provinces of the Lao PDR.

QIPs are projects with short gestation period that directly benefit local communities, with results that are immediate and visible, which contribute significantly to economic and social development and improvement of public welfare.

QIPs are spread across large number of provinces and have received enormous support and appreciation from communities and local authorities in the Lao PDR. India has undertaken 30 QIPs in the Lao PDR. So far, 12 projects have been completed and remaining 18 projects are under implementation.

Ambassador Prashant Agrawal also reiterated India’s commitment to support Laos in its development journey.

Vice Governor of XiengKhuang Province Mr. Sivilay Sengchaleunexpressed thanks to the Government of India for providing support for the implementation of the project.
