(KPL) The government convened its monthly meeting on October 24, chaired by Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, with key discussions centering on increasing the minimum salary for civil servants and adjusting personnel quotas for various government sectors for the upcoming year.

In a press briefing following the meeting, government spokesperson and Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Sonexay Sithphaxay, emphasized the meeting’s focus on supporting civil servants amid economic challenges. The session, held both in-person and online, included Deputy Prime Ministers, senior officials from ministries and government organizations, and provincial leaders.

Participants approved a proposal from the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding salary disbursement and policy improvements aimed at enhancing civil servants' living standards given the current economic pressures. The meeting highlighted the necessity of staffing government sectors adequately to ensure continuous, efficient, and productive operations.

Efforts to address the issue of illegally imported vehicles and ongoing inflation were also prioritized. The government plans to strengthen enforcement of regulations, close legal loopholes, and take decisive actions to curb illegal vehicle trade. A task force has been established to collaborate with relevant sectors in identifying and addressing specific irregularities to produce effective solutions.

In tackling inflation, the government reaffirmed its commitment to the measures outlined in the current work plan and the Central Party Committee’s guidelines. Prime Minister Siphandone will play a leading role in coordinating these efforts across sectors to stabilize the economy and reduce inflation.

Additional discussions included strategies to improve education performance, human resource development, and future initiatives regarding the Law on Education, Alcoholic Beverage Control Law, and the Law on Labour. Relevant government bodies will also draft a strategic agricultural land management plan through 2030, with a long-term vision extending to 2040.
