(KPL/VNA) Laos has been committed to decisively addressing and eliminating cyber-scam in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the Lao northern province of Bokeo.

The Laophattana News on August 24 quoted a recent statement from the Management Board of the SEZ in Bokeo, stating that Lao and foreign individuals and legal entities in the Golden Triangle Economic Zone must immediately stop online-scam activities.

All business activities in the zone must strictly comply with Lao laws and be licensed by the country.

The statement emphasised that all businesses or employers must pay salaries, wages, dividends and other policies to employees or workers fully and on time as committed, and that they are strictly forbidden to confiscate passports, ID cards, temporary residence permits, work permits, and other relevant personal documents.

Starting from August 26, Laos will conduct strict inspections, and will strictly handle all related violations.

Previously, on August 12, the security force in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone coordinated with relevant units to successfully bust a cyber-scam gang, arresting 771 suspects from 15 Asian and African countries.
