Thai Gov’t Funds the Building of Agricultural Training and Coffee Research Centre in Huaphan

KPL (KPL) Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Saleumxay Kommasith, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, witnessed the handover of 4.6 million baht from the Government of Thailand to the Vanmai Coffee Cooperative in Huaphan Province.


(KPL) Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Saleumxay Kommasith, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, witnessed the handover of 4.6 million baht from the Government of Thailand to the Vanmai Coffee Cooperative in Huaphan Province.

The financial assistance will be used to fund the construction of the Agricultural Training and Coffee Research Centre of the Vanmai Coffee Cooperative in the northern province, which is a cooperation project between the Ministry of Public Security and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) that is designed to promote the farming of alternative crops to opium in the Lao PDR.

The handover was performed by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand Ms. Eksiri Pintaruchi, and President of the Vanmai Coffee Cooperative, Mr. Savaithong Khounsavanh.
