The Laos-Korea Electric Power Seminar, and 2024 Power Equiptment and Supplies Trade Delegation Session was held in Vientiane on June 25.

Organized by Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and Korean Electrical Manufacturers Cooperative or KEMC.

At the workshop, Mr. Lamphon Dimanivong, a representative from the Energy Policy-Planning Department, made a presentation on the development and plans of the electricity sector of the Lao PDR.

The Electricite du Laos (EDL) has presented a plan for the purchase of electrical equipment including maintenance and guidelines for the purchase of such equipment.

While the EDL-Generation Public Company (EDL-GEN) has explained about the development of the energy project and the procedure for purchasing electrical equipment.

At the same day, there was a business matching event between Korea and Lao PDR in the field of 2024 Power Equipment and Supplies Trade Delegation Business Matching Session.

At the seminar, 20 Lao companies and 10 Korean companies had the opportunity to meet bilaterally to exchange information via meetings.

These companies have introduced new innovative products, compact earthing system, polymer circuit breaker, electric payment control box, electric payment box, switch, electric payment control system and so on.

Mr. Kim Jeong Min, an adviser to the Korean ambassador to Lao PDR said Korea has helped Laos with more than 100 million US dollars in more than 140 projects to help development in Lao PDR.

Mr. Pak Jeongkiw, Director General of KOTRA Vientiane Organization emphasized the promotion of South Korea to the development of its energy sector with the aim of using efficient electrical equipment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

This event is an important step to increase the cooperation between the two countries, the development of electricity in Laos through technology and strategic partnership with Korea.
