(KPL) The Visit Laos Year 2024 tourism promotion campaign is scheduled to be officially launched in November, aimed at attracting foreign and Lao tourists in 2024.

The Deputy Prime Minister Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune said at a meeting last Friday that the campaign will bring tourists to Laos and encourage the creation of products that will broaden the scope of tourism and add value to products, as well as improve the quality of services in line with the requirements of target market groups,

"The program will have cultural activities and traditional festivals in central and local areas, as well as bolstering domestic tourism and inspiring more foreign tourists to visit Laos, which will generate more revenue for local communities," he added.

“The campaign has scheduled 75 activities, with 14 of them to be held nationwide and 61 in provinces,” Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism SuanesavanhVignaket has said.

Lao authorities have improved visitor facilities and set up more outdoor activities such as hiking and climbing, as well as campsites.

They have also issued technical and safety certificates in relation to tourist activities such as climbing, ballooning, paramotor trips and cruises, as well as improving access to tourist attractions.

The Government hopes that at least 4.6 million foreign and Lao tourists will travel in the Southeast Asian country in 2024, generating revenue of 712 million U.S. dollars
