(KPL)The World Table Tennis Youth Contender (WTT youth contender), hosted by Laos was officially opened in Vientiane on September 20.
Presence at the opening ceremony were Mr Khampheng Saysompheng, Minister to Prime Minister’s Office, Mrs Sengduean Larchanthaboun, the President of Lao National Table Tennis Federation, Mr Phout Simmalavong, Minister of Education and Sports, and relevant officials, athletes and teachers from 11 countries.
Minister Phout said that the WTT Youth contender considers an important part in the development of table tennis players’ skills in subregion and region to be strength and promote solidarity with other countries. It is an opportunity for young athletes to compete at the international level and select talented athletes.
The WTT Youth Contender scheduled on September 20-23, at Lao ITECC Shopping Center, there are 11 countries of Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, India including Laos the host country.
The competition will comprise 11 categories including youth 11, 13, 15 and 19 years old, as the host country hoped to get some medals from the categories of 11 and 13 years old.
