(KPL) Prensa Latina Cuban News Agency has reported that the political statement adopted Monday during the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Summit gathers the commitment of world leaders to take immediate steps towards the 2030 Agenda.

The statement, adopted during the opening session of the Summit and the high-level week of the General Assembly, agrees to unlock more and better financing for developing countries in response to the global crises.

The UN described the document as decisive and action-oriented, while recognizing the collective commitment to build a sustainable, inclusive and prosperous world by 2030.

Such statement acknowledges that without a quantum leap in investments to enable fair energy, food and digital transitions, as well as a transformation in education and robust social protection in developing countries, the goals will not be achieved plainly.

The document, endorsed by all member states, calls for immediate action proposed by Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, such as a massive rise in financing for the achievement of the SDGs to the tune of USD$500 billion each year.
