President Thongloun visits China

KPL (KPL) Party Secretary General and State President Thongloun Sisoulith, spouse, and a delegation of high-ranking officials of Laos are visiting China in response to the invitation of the Party and government leaders of China to strengthen the traditional relations between the two Parties, states of Laos and China and deepen the building of a Laos-China community with a shared future. President Thongloun arrived in Kunming of China’s Yunnan Province on Jun 15. The president and his delegation were greeted by Minister of International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Liu Jianchao, Governor of Yunnan Province Wang Yubo and other central and provincial leaders.

President Thongloun arrived in Kunming of China’s Yunnan Province on Jun 15. The president and his delegation were greeted by Minister of International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Liu Jianchao, Governor of Yunnan Province Wang Yubo and other central and provincial leaders.

President Thongloun met with Secretary of CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) Li Xi. 

Both sides informed each other about outstanding developments in their respective countries as well as their external activities and the results of the implementation of the resolutions of the 11th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

President Thongloun asked the Chinese host to convey his warm greetings to CPC Secretary General and State President Xi Jinping on the occasion of his 70th birth anniversary. He also highly valued the great achievements in national development the fraternal Party, government and people of China have made over the past years. 

He expressed his belief that, under the strong and clear-sighted leadership of the Communist Party of China with Xi Jinping as the core, fraternal Chinese people will continue to record comprehensive achievements in implementing the resolution of the 20th CPC National Congress, achieving the goal of Chinese modernisation to ensure high quality development strategy of China and lay firm foundation for fulfilling the goal of building China into a great modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious and beautiful.

In reply, Li Xi conveyed to President Thongloun the greetings from his Chinese counterpart and appreciated the success of the recently held 6th plenary meeting of the 11th Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and highly valued the achievements of the Party, government and people of Laos in national development over the past years and pledged to support the national development cause of the Lao PDR in the new era.

Both sides spoke highly of the traditional relations and successful cooperation as well as the building of a Laos-China community with shared future over the past years especially the opening of Laos-China Railway which is bringing concrete benefits to peoples of the two countries.

They highly valued President Thongloun’s successful visit to China in late 2022 and achievements in implementing the joint statement the two countries have signed.

The two leaders also agreed on directions of efforts to further strengthen the longlasting comprehensive strategic partnership based on four-good principle and the building of a Laos-China community of a shared future.

Both sides also exchanged points of view on regional and international issues of common interest and reaffirmed their commitment to continue their collaboration and strong mutual support at multilateral arena.

The Chinese leader expressed thanks to the Lao PDR for supporting international meetings hosted by China. Meanwhile, the Lao leader highly valued China’s active role in promoting peace, friendship and cooperation for regional and international development and affirmed that he stands ready to further promote and contribute to initiatives proposed by China.
