Kun Bokator athlete secures first SEA Games-32 gold medal for Laos

KPL (KPL) Mr Kong-ngeun Inthisan has won a gold medal, the first of its kind for Lao athletes in the 32nd SEA Games hosted in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

 

(KPL) Mr Kong-ngeun Inthisan has won a gold medal, the first of its kind for Lao athletes in the 32nd SEA Games hosted in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Kong-ngeun grabbed the medal in the men’s singles bare han category.

The 32nd SEA Games will be officially opened today and last till May 18, 2023.

As of May 2, Lao athletes have won four medals in the biggest sport event of the South East Asia region including one gold and three bronze medals. Other three medalists include Mr Anousone  Vannalath, Mr Alongkhone, and Ms Somvan Thaniseng. All are Kun Bokator players.

Kun Lbokator, or Kun Bokator is a martial art dating back to the Angkorian period (9th to 15th century) that uses self-defense techniques and a philosophy of nonviolence to improve the strength and discipline of athletes and practitioners, according to UNESCO.

      (KPL) The 32nd Southeast Asian Games came to an end on Wednesday night, with Vietnam ranking top place in the medal tally and Thailand announced as the next host of the region’s biggest sports competition. Addressing the closing ceremony at Morodok Techo National Stadium, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen noted that the success of the games is part of the spirit of solidarity, understanding, friendship and integration in the region.

      (KPL) The 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games was officially kicked off with a grand opening ceremony in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on the evening of May 5. The biggest sport event of the Southeast Asian region will run till May 17. The opening was attended by Prime Minister Hun Sen, his wife, Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith, and athletes and sport officials from ASEAN member countries.
