KPL (KPL) Lao and Japanese researchers met in Vientiane on March 7 for the Laos-Japan Policy Research Forum to discuss the Lao Model of Inclusive, Resilient and Sustainable Development.

(KPL) Lao and Japanese researchers met in Vientiane on March 7 for the Laos-Japan Policy Research Forum to discuss the Lao Model of Inclusive, Resilient and Sustainable Development.

The forum was organised by the Faculty of Economics and Business Management, National University of Laos, and the Graduate School of Public Policy of the University of Tokyo, and supported by the Toshiba International Foundation.

Co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Finance Phouthanouphet Xaysombath and the Japanese Ambassador to Laos Kenichi Kobayashi, the Forum provided the participants with the opportunity to exchange lessons on conducting a policy research to be used as a reference for how to address economic and financial problems, especially in the context of the Lao PDR.

The meeting was also joined by policy makers and representatives of relevant parties of the two countries.

“This forum sees the presence of experts from University of Tokyo and Kobe University of Japan who have rich experience in studying Lao and Japanese policies and are keen to share research experiences with Lao researchers,” said Prof. Dr. Phouphet Kyophilavong, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Management, NUOL.
