KPL (KPL) D-Book Printing in cooperation with the National University of Laos on Wednesday launched Book Festival 2023 at the National University of Laos, Vientiane. The annual event will last through March 12.

(KPL) D-Book Printing in cooperation with the National University of Laos on Wednesday launched Book Festival 2023 at the National University of Laos, Vientiane. The annual event will last through March 12.

D-Book Printing Director Sommay Phoummachanh said, “This year book festival gathers more than 100,000 books for exhibition and sales purposes including books from Thailand, France, England, China, Korea and Japan and other countries.”

Seminars, lectures, cultural performance, and other activities are also held on the sidelines to promote reading, according to Mr Sommay. 

“This year book festival helps materialize Laos’ strategic plan on human resource development through 2025, which aims to increase the reading ratio to 2/3 of population in the country by 2025,” said Mr Sommay. “The event also marks the 28th anniversary of World Book Day - March 2 and the 113th anniversary of International Women’s Day – March 8 as well as the 68th anniversary of the founding of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party - March 22.”
