KPL (KPL) Certificates for the STEM Codeavour 2020 AI, the International AI and Coding Competition were presented to students of Chomkham School, Vientiane on Feb 12.

 

(KPL) Certificates for the STEM Codeavour 2020 AI, the International AI and Coding Competition were presented to students of Chomkham School, Vientiane on Feb 12.

The certificates were presented by the India Ambassador to the Lao PDR Dinkar Asthana.

Director of the Chomkham School Chomkham Saysanavongphet, Deputy Director of the Chanthaboury District Office of Education and Sports Chanthakan Rattana, Representative of the Smart Mind Tech International Roopesh Govindappa, teachers and students witnessed the event.

The international online programming competition is hosted by STEMpedia annually to encourage kids to bring out their inner programmer and make innovative projects with PictoBlox – an AI-enabled graphical programming software based on Scratch 3.0.

The competition aims to motivate kids to: develop an interest in STEM, Develop critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication – the four C’s of the 21st century skills and become sensitive towards the well-being of the world.

Themes for making the world a better place have included ‘Beat the Pandemic with AI’, in which kids can use their skills to try to solve problems that Covid-19 has presented; ‘Think Automation’ where kids can channel their ‘inner James Bond’ through automating their surroundings and making routine tasks go auto-pilot.

“STEM ROBOTICS In Laos, is a one-stop solution for everything STEM that makes learning a playful experience by enlightening young minds about new-age tech while empowering them with 21st-century skills so that they can excel in a tech-ruled future,” said Mr Roopesh Govindappa.

“We have started operating the STEM School Labs in Chomkham School, Phonekeo Vithagna School and Nita School. Three all together. We teach STEM from Primary to High school students,” said Mr Roopesh Govindappa.

STEM ROBOTICS aims to transform today’s youth into tomorrow’s innovators by enabling learning-by-doing in STEM education with the help of its state-of-the-art hands-on project-making kits, programming software, a variety of learning options, and training programmes. It blends theory with experiential learning which helps develop innovativeness and problem-solving skills - the must-have 21-century skills.
