KPL A blood drive was held at the Lao Front for National Development in Vientiane on Jul 10 in celebrating the 110th birth anniversary of late President Souphanouvong


(KPL) A blood drive was held at the Lao Front for National Development in Vientiane on Jul 10 in celebrating the 110th birth anniversary of late President Souphanouvong.

The blood donation event was organized by the Lao Front for National Development in cooperation with the International WeloveU Foundation and Lao Red Cross Society.

The event witnessed the presence of Vice President of the Lao Front for National Development, Dr Som-ok Kingsada, Director of the National Blood Transfusion Centre, Dr Chanthala Souksakhone and President of the International WeloveU Foundation, Mrs Kim Okkhee.

President Souphanouvong was born in Luang Prabang on Jul 13, 1909. He was the first President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (1975-1991).

Blood donation is especially needed for patients with thalassemia, anaemia, dengue fever, accident victims, among others.

Every day, the National Blood Centre provides 100-200 bags of blood to hospitals across the country for medical purposes.
