KPL The SCG (Siam Cement Group) Trading Company Limited has granted 310 scholarships worth more than 540 million kip to secondary school and university students of low income families in rural areas of Laos this academic year

(KPL) The SCG (Siam Cement Group) Trading Company Limited has granted 310 scholarships worth more than 540 million kip to secondary school and university students of low income families in rural areas of Laos this academic year.

SCG’s “Sharing the Dream 2018” scholarships for Lao students were announced in Vientiane Capital on Dec 18 in the presence of the Director General of the Department of Secondary Education Sisouk Vongvichith, and Vice President, Cement and Construction Business, Cement-Building Materials, SCG, Mr Chana Poomee.

The scholarship awardees include 160 secondary school students in Vientiane Capital, 140 secondary school students in provinces nationwide, and 10 university students, according to the Director General of the Vientiane Capital Education and Sports Department, Mr. Somphou Keopanya.

SCG has also provided five special scholarships to students with good schooling performance, according to Mr. Somphou.

“SCG’s “Sharing the Dream” project annually grants scholarships to Lao children and youth who are strongly determined to pursue higher education, but from low income families,” said Ms Sisouk.

SCG has granted scholarships to more than 6,000 students in ASEAN region, including Cambodia, the Lao PDR, Indonesia, Myanmar the Philippine Thailand, and Vietnam.
