Kwouan Nang film to screen at this month's end

KPL (KPL) A new film titled "Kwouan Nang," made by Cinema Department, will be screened from 25 October to 6 November at the Lao ITECC in Vientiane.

(KPL) A new film titled "Kwouan Nang," made by Cinema Department, will be screened from 25 October to 6 November at the Lao ITECC in Vientiane.
"Kwouan Nang is a film that will contribute to and add support for the development of Lao cinema circles,"Mr Vithoun Soundala, Deputy Head of Cinema Department, Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism said at a press conference on 20 October.

"Many local media companies in the country have produced movies that have attracted large local audiences. Lao movies will continue to improve and be developed in the future," Mr Vithoun hoped.
Kwouan Nang is 107 minutes and tells the story of an underprivileged woman who was born to a poor family, but left her parents and motherland to work in the city. 
After completing her upper secondary school, she helps her mother to earn money in Vientiane capital.

Kwouan Nang has ambitious hopes of escaping poverty and upgrading her life.

During her time in Vientiane, she starts working at a garment factory and faces many challenges and dangers including the possibility of being trafficked.

Eventually, she is successful due to her diligence and hard work.

Mr. Khampasong Thilasack, a well-known pop singer from the Black Eye was selected to play the hero for this film and Ms Douangta Khanthavong, who is the host of a radio program, was selected to act as the heroine in Kwouan Nang.

The film producer of Kwouan Nang is Mr Somphong Phondy, a staff member of Cinema Department of Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism.
