(KPL) In the afternoon of 16 April, 2014, the Second Liaison and Coordinating Meeting of the 60th Anniversary of Japanese and Lao Diplomatic Relations was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR.
The Meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Ryotaro Suzuki, charge d’affaires ad interim of Japan to the Lao PDR, and Mr. Mai Sayavongs, Director General, Department of Asia-Pacific and Africa, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In attendance were representatives from the organizations related to Japan in the Lao PDR. Among those present were The Association of Japanese Residents in Laos, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Lao-Japan Human Resource Development Institute, and Japan Alumni of Laos as well as representatives from the Lao side such as Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Education and Sports, National Assembly and Committee for External Relations of the Party Central Committee.
At the Meeting, the representatives of Japan and the Lao PDR discussed the cooperation and preparation efforts for the 60th anniversary in 2015. Both sides agreed to start the application process for events commemorating the anniversary in November and will announce the logo and the catchphrase in about December. In addition, both sides expressed the hope that the 60th anniversary in the coming year will contribute to further enhancement of the bilateral ties between Japan and the Lao PDR.
