Commerce Minister Visits SCG Cement Factory in Khammuan

KPL (KPL) Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mrs Khemmany Pholsena and her delegation on Feb 9 visited the factory of the Khammuan Cement Co., Ltd in Phova village, Mahaxay district, Khammuan Province.

(KPL)  Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mrs Khemmany Pholsena and her delegation on Feb 9 visited the factory of the Khammuan Cement Co., Ltd in Phova village, Mahaxay district, Khammuan Province.

Khammuan Cement Co., Ltd is the investment of Thai transnational corporate Siam Cement Group (SCG). The factory in Khammuan is among multibillion-US-dollar cement plants SCG has built in ASEAN countries namely Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, and Myanmar.

On Mrs Khemmany’s visit to the company, she was also joined by Vice-Provincial Governor Mr Bounmy Phimmasone, Director of the Khammuan Provincial Department of Industry and Commerce Mr. Thongsay Vangnomek, and relevant officials.

The factory of the Khammuan Cement Co., Ltd was built between 2015 and late 2016. It is equipped with a 1.8-million-tonne production capacity and produces cement primarily for the domestic market and Thailand.

It employs more than 200 workers with locals making up the majority of its manpower, according to the Director of Khammuan Cement Co., Ltd, Mr Vorakan Pongsirikul.
