Historical Lao and China Film to be Produced Soon

KPL (KPL) Laos and China will soon begin jointly producing the first historical movie / love story named “Bloomed Champa Flower”.

                  (KPL) Laos and China will soon begin jointly producing the first historical movie / love story named “Bloomed Champa Flower”.

The production of the short film, which is expected to be completed shortly, is part of the celebration of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Laos and China.

“The film will contribute and support the development of Lao cinema and strengthen the existing friendly cooperation and comprehensive solidarity between Laos and China,” said the Acting General Director of the Cinema Department, Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Vithoun Soundara at a press conference held in Vientiane Capital on Oct 25.

The film features a love affair between a Lao woman and a Chinese man and is symbolic of the blending of the traditional culture and relations between Laos and China.

Over the past 55 years, the relationship and comprehensive solidarity between the two states and two parties, as well as between the people of two nations Laos and China, have constantly expanded in multiple ways, said the Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Bounngeun Saphouvong.

In 2009, the top leaders of the two countries agreed to elevate the level of relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership to further bolster the bilateral ties and cooperation between the two countries.

Through this enhanced relationship, achievements in many areas have been recorded including in economics, education, tourism, culture and others”, Mr Bounngeun added.

The film will also highlight cultural cooperation, part of the strengthening of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Laos and China.

“Bloomed Champa Flower” will be jointly produced by the Cinema Department of the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, and the Asia-Pacific Media Investment Management Co., Ltd.
